![]() Chasing RainbowsAn image of the family. The three matching outfits for the sisters were all made from scratch by myself and my coworkers. The dress worn by the mother was also made from scratch. The matching sister outfits were based on a photo of the Gumm sisters, which was Judy Garland's real last name. | ![]() Chasing RainbowsAn image of Judy and her friend Micky Rooney. The overalls were made by myself and a coworker, and were based on a picture of Judy Garland at the MGM studio. | ![]() Chasing RainbowsThese costumes were pulled from stock. The designer wanted to pay homage to the famous blue gingham dress from Wizard of Oz. We put Judy in a pale blue striped dress during this number, which is when Judy learns that she got the part as Dorothy. |

Most of the costumes in this scene were made by myself (including specific outfits shown in later photos) and my coworkers, based on images of school children from this time period. | ![]() Chasing RainbowsA design project. The costume shop manager had me design and make an apron from scratch. This apron was not used in the show, but was put into stock to be used in a future show. | ![]() Chasing RainbowsA plaid dress. This dress was made by me and was my first attempt at matching plaid. The front panel was cut to not match, but all other seams do. It was worn by one of Judy Garland's sisters. |
![]() Chasing RainbowsA plaid jumper. This jumper dress was made by me for the character Deanna Durbin. There was also a pale pink, short sleeved blouse worn underneath, that I made as well. (Not pictured) | ![]() Chasing RainbowsOne of the opening outfits. This was worn by the youngest Gumm sister, Judy Garland. I made this, and the accompanying coat. (Not pictured) | ![]() Chasing RainbowsA school dress. This dress was worn by one of the chorus children in the school scene. This dress was made by me, and is accented with white leather. |
![]() Chasing RainbowsA red jacket. This and the matching skirt (not pictured) are worn by Judy during an interview. This, and the skirt, was made by me. | ![]() Chasing RainbowsA school dress. This dress was worn by one of the chorus children in the school scene. This dress and belt combination was made by me, and has a push ruffle accent. | ![]() Chasing RainbowsAn apron. This apron was made by me for the school scene. It was worn by the Shirley Temple character. It had to be washed with Borax multiple times to achieve the appropriate fading. |
